Kentucky-area 40,598 square miles, of which
417 sq. miles is water; 36th state in size; admit-
ted to the Union in 1792. State flower-Goldenrod.
Capital-Frankfort. Corn is the principal crop
and tobacco second. Kentucky thoroughbred
horses are especially famous. Mammoth Cave is
one of the largest natural caverns in the world,
with avenues, domes, pits, and pools, and at
least 150 miles of passages.
