Historic New Salem State Park is located
near Petersburg on Highways 97 and 123,
about 17 miles northwest of Springfield,
Illinois.
The Wagon Wheel Inn, located in the lower
area of New Salem State Park, is not a part
of the original village. Rustic in appearance,
the atmosphere of the 1830's has been pre-
served in the building appointments and
costumes of the waitresses. Excellent meals
are served and accommodations permit the
care of large parties.
The Wagon Wheel Inn is open from March
15 to December 1.
