Hurrah For Onarga Horses
Culver & Co., of Onarga, sold their pair of sorrel geldings to W. 0.
Talbert & Son of Wabash, Ind, for $700,00. They were 3 and 4 years
old, weighing 2020 and 2220 pounds, total 4240 pounds. This team was
recognized as being the largest pair and costing more money than any
team placed in Talbert's barn and sold April 6, 1912, to Mr. McKinney
of Boston, Mass., for $750.00. The young horse was said to be the best
individual in the vicinity of Onarga or Wabash. Ben Wallace the circus
man, said: "They were beauties and were to large for him."
We notice that Oltmanns Bros. of Watseka, Ill., the great import-
ers sold a four year old stallion weighing about 2100 pounds. This 3-year-
old horse weighed 2220 pounds. At that rate he outweighed the full
blooded horse.
