Additional Details:
On the Monterey Peninsula, there are three organized communities, Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel. Monterey is one of the most picturesque of American cities, and is rich in historical interest, many of the old landmarks still stand. This view shows a portion of the business section, and the fishing fleet at anchor in the bay. Nearby, may be seen the Presidio of Monterey, an army post covering some 400 acres, which is the garrison for officers and enlisted men of the Cavalry and Field Artillery. Beyond in a forest of pines and fronting on the bay, is the residential community of Pacific Grove, a city of unusual beauty. This is the starting point of the famous 17 mile Drive, which follows the rugged and beautiful coast line, through the Del Monte Forest, to the famed and picturesque village of Carmel
