LYRE BIRD
From its age-old haunts in Fernland, the Lyre
Bird, has charmed a nation with its minstrelsy. The
female of the species is of more or less common-
place appearance, but the male bird, is a gorgeously-
tailed creature. Not by any means a beautiful baby,
but the “ugly duckling" becomes handsome,
pheasant-like bird with the most wonderful tail
and a vocal artist unrivalled at mimicry.
