The Riverside Church in the City of New York opened
for worship in October 1930. The edifice occupies a com
manding site on Riverside Drive at 122nd Street. The
Cathedral of Chartres, France (built A.D. 1194 - 1260)
was the inspiration for the French-Gothic architecture of
the building. The tower of the Church houses the Laura
Spelman Rockefeller Memorial Carillon consisting of seven.
