This concrete ship situated at the foot of Sunset Boule-
vard was one of an experimental lot of ships built by the
United States Government during the World War. The
Atlantus was purchased by promoters for use as a Ferry
Landing for a proposed route from Cape May Point to
Lewes, Delaware. One night a Northeast Storm proke it
from its mooring and beached it and the ferry project did
not materialize at that time, but there is still hope that
it will eventually become a reality.
