Reading is the County Seat of Berks County,
was founded in 1748 by the sons of Wm.
Penn. It was incorporated into a city in 1847.
Was famous for its part in the French and
Indian War and the Revolutionary War. It
was the center of the first section of America
to produce iron and kept supremacy in this
line for over a century. It is now noted for its
modern manufacturing plants and hosiery
mills.
