The Battle of Gettysburg was fought July
1st, 2nd, and 3rd, 1863. The Union Army
under command of General Meade, consistea
of about 90,000 men of which about 23,000
were killed, wounded and missing. General
Lee, in charge of the Confederate Army of
85,000 men lost over 28,000 men. More than
$7,000,000 has been spent on battlefield monu-
ments, roads and other improvements over
its thirty-eight miles of territory.
