Automatic Washington presses
bale pulp at Ketchikan, Alaska
The two 1,000-ton Washington hydraulic pulp baling presses
shown on the reverse side were installed in the finishing room of
the Ketchikan Pulp Company when the mill began full scale
production in 1955.
The two presses have since compressed and baled for shipment
1,500,000 tons of high grade "Tongacell" dissolving pulp,
equivalent to 30,000 carloads. Their efficiency and dependa-
bility are of the highest order.
Washington pulp baling presses, as well as Washington multi-
platen hot presses for board and plywood production, have been
selected by many of the world's largest and most efficient plants,
not only in Alaska and throughout North America, but on four
other continents.
