Unique Washington hot presses help form "Silvaplex" products. Seven hydraulic hot presses, designed and manufactured by the Washington Iron Works, Seattle, are being utilized to mold wood fractions into three-dimensional "Silvaplex" products at the new Weyerhaeuser plant in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Typical objects being formed include decorative trays and table tops, drawer and cabinet components, and counter tops. Five of the Washington presses are 15000 ton capacity, 5x8 feet; two are 4 by 20 feet, 3000 tons capacity, as pictured on the reverse. All have automatic cycle timing and pressure controls. Another major unit of Washington equipment in the "Silvaplex" plant is an automated conveyor capable of loading the presses with die sets weighing up to 45 tons.
