NEW YORK CITY
The first bridge to span the East River to Brooklyn was opened
to traffic in 1883 with a one penny toll charge. Its span is 1,595
feet with an overall length of 6,016 feet. Until 1903, this bridge
held the honor of being the world's longest suspension bridge.
