This historic Court House was built in 1880. The original Mono
County Court House was built in Aurora, it was later dis-
covered by survey, Aurora was in Nevada Territory. In 1864
the records were moved to Bridgeport and held in another
building until the present Court House was built.
Three trips by buckboard and horses were required to trans-
fer the records. The cannon in the foreground was manu-
factured in Bodie in 1881 to guard the Standard Mine - It
has never been fired.
