Additional Details:
In the center of the steps leading to Columbia University Library is the statue of Alma Mater, in gilt bronze, executed by Daniel C. French, and the gift of the widow of the late Robert Goelet. The University is symbolized allegorically as a matronly figure in academic robes seated on a throne holding a scepter in her right hand, and with an open book in her lap. At the right is St. Paul's Chapel, East Hall, and Philosophy Hall
