THE CONTEMPORARY ARTS BUILDING
NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR 1939
The Contemporary Arts Building at the New York
World's Fair 1939 is designed to house the most com-
prehensive exhibit of works by living American artists
ever assembled in this country. The exhibit comprises
800 works in painting, sculpture and the graphic arts.
The keynote of the exhibition is “Democracy in Art,'
and every artist in the country is given an equal chance
to have his work represented at the Fair. This sketch
shows how the structure looks at night against a back-
ground of fountains in the Lagoon of Nations. The
architects are: Ackerman, Lowenfish and Van Pelt.
