Cape Cod Light, often called Highland Light,
at North Truro, is one of the most powerful
beacons along the Atlantic Seaboard. The
strength of its beam is 4,000,000 candlepower.
It was built in 1798 and its lantern is 66 feet
above the bluff and 182 feet above sea level.
Its revolving light has a five second period,
flashing white for 0.2 second followed by an
eclipse of 4.8 seconds.
