It contains 758 acres and has over 20 miles of fine roadways. Among the features of the island are a fine Zoo, Aquarium Conservatory and Bathing Beach, also several splendid monuments. The island was purchased in 1879 and the City has expended over two and one quarter millions of dollars in developing it
