U.S.A.F. Museum, W-PAFB, Ohio TON.O
The US Air Force Museum Building was dedicated on Sept. 3, 1971 by
the President of the United States, Richard Nixon Considered to be
the world's largest and oldest military aviation museum, it originated
in 1923 at McCook Field, near Dayton, Ohio. Measuring 800 feet long,
240 feet wide, and soaring to a ceiling of 80 feet, the $7 million
structure houses more than 80 aircraft. The building, paid for through
public contribution, was donated to the United States Air Force by the
Air Force Museum Foundation, Inc.
