WELCOME TO GREENLEE COUNTY
ARIZONA
Greenlee County is a land with a vivid histor-
ic past, dating back to Coronado, who led an
army through the territory in search of the
famed Seven Cities of Cibola. The trail he
blazed through the vast northern section of
Greenlee County became a national landmark
when U.S. Highway 666 was completed and
dedicated as the Coronado Trail. In 1864
rumors of gold once more brought pros-
pectors into the area. Again the gold was
evasive, but copper was discovered and is
still today one of its mainstays.
