BARSTOW, CALIFORNIA
Barstow is located at the junction of highways 66, 91, and
466. Today this modern town enjoys a brisk tourist trade,
just as it did in the old days. Barstow was located on one of
the oldest trails to enter Southern California, "The Mojave
Indian Trail," dating back to 1776. Later "The Spanish Trail,"
some times called "The Santa Fe Trail," opened in 1831, made
use of the old Mojave Trail from "Fork of the Roads" east of
Barstow to San Gabriel . . . M.P.
