YANK SERVICE CENTER, BINGHAMTON, NEW YORK

This spacious home, located
within two blocks of Bing-
hamton's business district, is
open to enlisted men and
women of the armed forces
of the United States and our
Allies. Visitors here have the
use of showers, reading
rooms, writing rooms, loung-
ing rooms and a dance floor.
Ping pong, darts, archery
and other games are pro-
vided. Refreshments are
served. All of this is free to
service men. Nearly two
hundred women and ap-
proximately twenty-five men,
actively engaged in the
operation of the Yank Service
Center, are volunteer work-
ers and receive no pay. The
property, at 185 Court St.,
is the former home of Mr.
and Mrs. A. Ward Ford of
Binghamton, who have loan-
ed it to the Advertising Club
for use as a service center
for the "duration".
