About the picturesque inhabited Indian pueblo
of Tesuque, ten miles north of Santa Fe, stretches
the rugged, broken floor of the Rio Grande Valley,
with the Sangre de Cristo range marking the east-
ern horizon. Tesuque means "the creek with
water in it”' and the little Tesuque River, nearby,
makes possible the irrigated fields and orchards
of the inhabitants.
