Fastest and most maneuverable ship in the Underwater Navy, the nuclear-powered Skipjack holds the all-time speed record for submarines. Because of this tremendous speed and ability to maneuver, newsmen and Navy officials have likened operating the Skipjack to piloting an airplane.
