HIGHWAY THRU CITY
WILLCOX, ARIZONA
Many years ago, the nomadic Apache roamed
the reaches of Cochise County. The Spaniards
came in 1540 searching for the famed “Cities
of Gold". In the 1800's the wagon trains
came following the Old Spanish Trail into the
golden west. The settlers came and towns
sprang up to serve them. The first of the
towns in this fertile and beautiful valley was
Mahley, soon to be known as Willcox (after
General Orlando B. Willcox) and serves as
the hub of a cattle empire.
