OLD MESILLA, NEW MEXICO
A street scene of Old Mesilla, as it appears today.
It is believed that the first settlers came about
1847 - however, it is recorded that the first lands
were allotted in 1850 by the military commander of
Dona Ana. At that time the population of La Mesilla
was 650 persons, and by 1860 it had becomo a
social center.
