PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND
This bird's eye view shows the FOX POINT
HURRICANE BARRIER, built to prevent flooding
of downtown streets as in earlier hurricanes; the
POINT STREET TURNSTILE BRIDGE, once
used to open to allow ships access to downtown
docks; Interstate 195 crossing the PROVIDENCE
RIVER: also, seen at the base of the tall buildings
is CRAWFORD STREET BIRDGE, with a width
of 1,147 feet, making it THE WORLD'S WIDEST
BRIDGE.
