The present bridge stands on the site of the legendary Bridge of the Gods, hence the name. The region is rich in legendary lore and historic interest. It was the meeting ground of the tribes for trade and war, and the gateway for the settlers of the Oregon country. The present bridge has a main span of 700 feet. Roadway 140 feet above pool level. The bridge was originally constructed with roadway level with the Oregon highway, but in 1940 was raised 45 feet to its present position. The bridge is operated as a toll bridge. Automobiles, including passengers, 50c per crossing. Free return within three hours
