The statue of Thomas Jefferson, standing in the lobby of the Jefferson Hotel, was unveiled at the time of the opening of the hotel, Oct. 31st, 1895. The sculptor was Mr. P. Valentine of Richmond, and the total cost was about $20,000. During a fire in the hotel, March 29th. 1901, the head was broken off, but has since been reset
