Additional Details:
The Sequoyah is named after Sequoyah, a Cherokee Chief, the most learned of all Indians of this country. On several occasions it was proposed to Name Indian territory in his honor and that probably would have been done but for its amalgamation with Oklahoma in single statehood. Sequoyah reduced the Cherokee language to written form. The hotel is built of reinforced concrete in mission style of architecture which has been modified somewhat to meet modern conditions
