POST ČARD
THE CITIZEN HERO OF GETTYSBURG. The figure of John Burns,
of Gettysburg, cast in bronze, stands upon a pedestal of native rock on the
field of the first day's fight. Over seventy years of age, he shouldered
his flint lock musket and offered his services. He scorned advice to fight
in the woods and joined the line of battle in the open. He fought until
he was disabled by three wounds.
