ALBUQUERQUE was
was first settled in 1701.
It was named after the Duke of Albuquerque,
one of the early Spanish explorers. The new
town was laid out about 25 years ago and is now
the largest city in New Mexico. It is located on
the main line of the Santa Fe. It lies at an
altitude of 5,000 feet.
