Bakersfield's beautiful civic auditorium and convention center, completed in 1962 at a cost of over five million, provides the setting for a great variety of civic, sports, business and entertainment activities. The concert hall has permanent deep cushioned seating for 3041 persons. The arena, with 4200 portable seats, is ideal for sports events, also offers up to 30,000 feet (9,150 m) of floor space for trade shows and exhibits.
