ington visited here in 1748, Lord Fairfax gave the famous
Springs to the public. Berkeley Springs was established as
a town in 1776. Virginia treated her sick soldiers here. Dr.
C. W. Chancellor called it a "health-giving luxury fit for
the Gods''. Generals Washington, Buchanan, Gates and
many others bought lots here. (Berkeley Springs) is an
historical place.
