GRIFFITHS AIR FORCE BASE – located in the foot-
hills of the Adirondacks is the home of Rome Air
Material Area and Rome Air Development Center.
The Mission of these two activities is to research
develop, procure, supply, and maintain all ground
z electronic communication equipment for the Air
Force around the world.
Two fighter interceptor squadrons flying F 89's
and F 102's are also based at Griffiths.
