No object in Salt Lake City excites greater
interest in the minds of strangers than the
"Mormon" Temple.
The East Center Tower is 210 ft. high, sur-
mounted by a hammered copper statue 12/20
ft. high, heavily gilded with pure gold leaf.
This statue represents the Angel Moroni blow. A
ing a trumpet, proclaiming the restoration of
the Gospel.
The inscription reads as follows: (
"Holiness to the Lord! The House of the
Lord, built by the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints. Commenced April 6, 1853;
completed April 6, 1893."
