The State Flag now in use was adopted
and prescribed by an Act of the General
Assembly approved June 13, 1907. Above the
motto, "Virtue, Liberty, and Independence,''
are seen two horses which act as the support-
ers for the shield on which are shown a ship
under sail, a plough, and three sheaves. The
crest is an eagle, with wings spread in atti-
tude of rising.
