Peoria is the home of the Northern Regional Re-
search Laboratory, Bureau of Agricultural and Indus-
trial Chemistry, U.S. Department of Agriculture. It is
one of four such laboratories established by Congress
to develop new or improved uses of farm commodities
for foods, feeds, pharmaceuticals, and industrial prod.
ucts. Penicillen, corn textile, fiber, starch sponge, are
but a few of the products developed in this Laboratory.
