Back:
Fort Augusta was erected by the English at
the confluence of the north and west branches
of the Susquehanna River, at what was then
the Indian Village of Shamokin, now Sunbury.
It was the outpost of Colonial civilization and
a refuge for both white settlers and peaceful
Indians. The replica is scaled to one-sixth of
original dimensions.
