MILFORD, NORTH SHORE, Auckland, New Zealand. Milford is a
very attractive marine suburb and was so named after his home town
by an Englishman who once owned most of the area. This view
shows part of Rangitoto Tce. (bottom left) running into Seaview Rd.
(Sheriffs Hill) and the intersection of Kitchener Rd. and Shakespeare
Rd. Kitchener Rd. runs out toward the narrow neck of lava rock
known as "Black Rock", and emerges into Hurstmere Rd. which
continues past Lake Pupuke to Takapuna (outside picture extreme
right). From Milford's main shopping centre, Milford Rd. (left) leads
down to its popular beach, Auckland's favourite picnic spot in the
early 1900's when a steam tram linked it with the Bayswater Ferry. 4
