11-OLD COVERED BRIDGE
IN THE WHITE MOUNTAINS,
JACKSON, NEW HAMPSHIRE
The old covered bridges of New England
are unique reminders of the days of long ago.
As the years pass they are becoming rarities
and the few remaining are considered great
curiosities by the many tourists that throng
the White Mountains. Originally constructed
of the magnificent virgin pine and hemlock 6
that then covered the White Mountain area,
they have lasted well through the many
years since they were built due to their be-
ing carefully roofed over to keep the timbers
of the bridge free from decay. This card pic-
tures the charming old bridge that still spans
the Ellis River at Jackson, N. H.
