THE DUKE HOSPITAL, the largest general hos-
pital in the Southern region, is a five-story building
and together with the School of Medicine Building
adjoining, has more than several acres of floor space,
more than 1,000 rooms. The various wards are named
in honor of outstanding practitioners, teachers and re-
searchers. Each year patients come from every county
in North Carolina and from some twenty other states.
