The Irving Langmuir Laboratory, named in honor of the
Nobel Prize winner, is a research facility of the New
Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro,
New Mexico. Located at the top of a 10,400 foot high
peak in the Magdalena Mountains west of Socorro, the
laboratory is designed for the study of atmospheric
phenomena. It features sensitive weather monitoring equip-
ment, a microwave link with campus facilities in Socorro,
and living quarters for scientists working at the installa-
tion.
