Old Lincoln County Court House State Monument

#22 OLD LINCOLN COUNTY COURT HOUSE STATE MONU- MENT, LINCOLN, NEW MEXICO. This adobe structure built in 1874 as Murphy-Dolan store, served as Courthouse 1880-1913. Pat Garrett, first Sheriff with offices in build- ing, imprisoned "Billy the Kid" in upstairs room. The young outlaw dramatically escaped April 28, 1881.
