H-2913 SANTA FE FIESTA SERIES.
The Santa Fe Fiesta has been held in the ancient capital
of New Mexico annually in September since 1712. In addition
to a historical pageant composed of hundreds of actors and
requiring three days and nights for its presentation, Indian
dances are given by tribes from the nearby pueblos who
attend the Fiesta in great numbers.
The Buffalo Dance, a picturesque ceremonial of the chase,
is usually performed during the autumn months. This dance,
with slight modifications, is performed by most of the Pueblo
tribes of the Southwest.
