KAKABEKA FALLS
"The Niagara of the North"
Green Mantle, lovely daughter of an Ojibway
Chief, was captured by her tribe's enemies, The
Sioux. She was forced to guide the invaders, who
intended to secretly steal upon the Ojibway tribe.
Realizing their scheme she led them instead over
the mighty Kakabeka Falls where the attackers
were dashed to death on the rocks below. In the
confusion Green Mantle swam to safety. Today,
visitors to the 128 foot Falls can hear the rumbled
anger of the Sioux; in the mist floats the spirit
of Green Mantle.
