LAGUNA is the youngest of the New Mexi-
can Pueblos, being founded in 1699. It is 66
miles west of Albuquerque. Few tourists
know that the Pueblo Indians of New Mexico
own 900,000 acres of land and since the Treaty,
of Guadeloupe Hidalgo in 1848 have been fu
citizens of the United States, maintaining thei
own forms of government. The Pueblo -
K-
dians are an intelligent, industrious and inde-
pendent race.
