At Needles the confines of California are
reached: It is a railroad division point, large
terminals being located here, as well as the
finest employes recreation hall on the system.
The chief business of the town is in catering to
the miners and prospectors in the surrounding
mountains. There are several hundred Mojave
Indians living near Needles, and many of the
gaws meet the trains to offer pottery, bead-
ok, and bows and arrows to the passengers.
