Made by JAMES WATT in 1809-14.
A rapidly revolving tool driven by gut from the treadle is mounted on a
pivoted arm on which is also mounted a feeler; as the latter passes over
the original object the tool cuts a corresponding shape on the copy.
Both original and copy are capable of rotation on their axes on separate
carriages which are connected by a pantagraph.
