Panama Canal, a Mecca for Tourists.
The photograph shows a crowd of tourists from
the cruising steamer "Laurentic," viewing the
Culebra Cut at its deepest point, and the
numerous slides that have developed in that
vicinity. Thousands of tourists, mostly Ameri-
cans, are being brought to the Isthmus by
every steamer to see the country and the
canal. The umbrellas so much in evidence
are sun-shades and not for protection against
rain, which seldom falls at this season of the
year.
