The Huntington School lot on Warren Ave. opposite the head of South Street Campello has been used for school purposes for more than 125 years. The original school building on that site having been moved away in 1784. The present was erected in 1873, an additional wooden building in 1885, (which was afterwards moved away), a brick building in 1893 and a second brick building in 1897, making the school new one of ninteen rooms with accommodations for 900 scholars and twenty teachers. Mr. J. I. Rackliffe has been the Principal since June 1884. |
